Bowen v Diangana
Im sorry ive said it from the moment we signed Bowen AND NOBODY can convince ne he is an improvement on Diangana !

Bowens decision making is poor and largely ineffective against good defenders ! I am still in shock how we let Diangan leave

I am still not convinced with Bowen, which I suppose won't be a popular view on here. He strikes me as 'workmanlike' rather than a real talent. Diangana, as well as his good goal at the weekend he showed some nice touches and moves that I don't think Bowen has in his locker.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
If we didn't have such incompetent owners maybe we could keep both, and people on here wouldn't be trying to justify Grady's sale.

I'm not convinced by Bowen either. Grafter, but not much end product at this level.

First half of last season at Hull - 16 league goals.
Since joining WHU - 1.

Not BLAMING him but he's not a player who's going to boss games in the Prem.* There's just the occasional spark.

I fear he's out of his depth. I hope not. But i expected more for a potential £25m. And I'm including last season as well.

* Maybe he'd be better as a no.10? Along with everyone else.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
Defenders are scared of him

He is direct

Unfortunately only him and Antonio play at that speed whilst the rest of the West Ham team bumble along behind

He needs more players to be up to speed or ahead of him for him to be given decisions so he can have an end product

We shouldn’t have sold Dinaganna but I fear the rest of the team was for sale but we had no buyers.

Agree with Pwoper
He has a spark, movement & can run with the ball
In a team with little possession, no midfield control & no pace & movement its hard to play.
And I’d give him more than 12 games to settle in

Personally I’d like to have him and Diangana
Different players, different options
But unfortunately our owners are cunts

Re: Bowen v Diangana
Fair point. He's hard to judge when most of the squad is performing poorly. Still, as a Dave signing I'm sure Moyes can get the best out him. Oh....

Re: Bowen v Diangana
Blimey, he is a good player and one of the only ones I would be bothered about losing. I think once he scores his next goal a few will follow on. He has missed a couple of easier opportinties though.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
Seems to have lost his confidence in front of goal, snatches at chances.

Maybe just needs to score.

Great team player though, works his socks off.

Too early to judge him or Diagana.

I'm not saying he's rubbish! He IS a good player. I'm just not totally convinced he's going to turn games for us, until other problems are solved. We live in hope.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
It’s no coincidence that when Antonio came back and we signed Bowen and added some pace to our front line, we actually started playing better

Funnily enough if you have some pace on BOTH sides, teams find you a bit tougher to deal with. It would have been great to have Bowen and Grady either side. Or to just have someone on the bench who could come on and take on a player and force the opposition back, but pretty much all our subs are the opposite

Bowen is the better option right now, but Grady looks like he will be a very good player indeed

Re: Bowen v Diangana
who's this, one of the sullivan agents preparing another sale?

Eerie Descent 9:58 Tue Sep 22
Re: Bowen v Diangana
I think he's trying to hard to score, he's doing the same thing Antonio does when he's on the wing, trying to create space to shoot but the opportunity is not really there, when there are players he could pass to in dangerous positions.

I like him though, he'll sort that out and become a very good player for us.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
No coincidence that arsenal found space for an overlap and scored within minutes of him going off...

Jesus there are some proper retards on here.

Yes you are upset Diangana left but fuck me you should let it go! Bowen is a far better all round player.

Criticising one of our better players, I thought this site could get no worse....I was wrong.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
Bowen does need to up his game.

He is however, a far superior player to Diangana.

onsideman 10:36 Tue Sep 22
Re: Bowen v Diangana
Yes, he's missed a couple of good chances but he must be sick to death of making decent runs from out to in and having no team mates capable of even seeing the run, never mind playing the pass (Fornals v Southampton for his only goal aside - a game in which Moyes managed to have Antonio, Bowen AND Haller as a front 3)

Bottom line, we ain't playing to his strengths.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
2 issues here:

1) He wasn't bought as a replacement for Diangana. MY understanding is that he was bought off the back of an impressive goal scoring rate for Hull (16 goals in 29 starts when we bought him, 22 in 45 the season before) at a time when Haller was clearly not cutting it and Ajeti wasn't really given a chance.

2 As is typical of us, we then play him on the wing where his goal threat is limited.

As is typical for West Ham we see a player peforming well for a club but don't look at the set up and system that is being player to enable them to thrive. Just buy and chuck them in the team and scratch your head as to why the player doesn't seem to be the same?

For the record, I think his work rate is actually very important. I'd rather have Bowen working hard for the team with a little less talent than Anderson who is doing absolutely fuck all work and barely showing glimpses of his actual ability.

Iron Duke 10:48 Tue Sep 22
Re: Bowen v Diangana
Even when Bowen has a relatively bad game, his work rate makes him a 6 out of 10 player. He showed against Chelsea and Man Utd that he can perform at the highest level, and should have seen a few players sent off if the referees weren't such tossers.

I don't want to knock Diangana because I didn't want him to leave, but he is a completely different type of player. Maybe he offers a bit more in the box, but I don't think there is that much in it. Also he goes missing in games, especially when we are feeding on scraps.

Re: Bowen v Diangana
I’m expecting Bowen to chip in with plenty this year cos he was a decent finisher at Hull but he’s decision making has to improve. I think Diangana will end up a better player though I agree.
